Topp, how does this -- the ordering -- work exactly ?

Publicly [here] saying "hey, i'd like xx !", or just wait until you give the get go, and then order with you privately ?

cheers,

I think the general idea is that people show interest within the thread by requesting their desired amount. Then, once the boards are manufactured, the interested parties will receive an invoice via PM for the requested quantity + shipping.

PostPosted: Fri Jul 23, 2010 8:48 am    Post subject: Maximizing usability of forum threads and construction hints Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Generally, the less uninformative posts (like this one, and 90% of the other posts in this thread) the better. Embarassed
Discussion threads with a high concentration of useful information about a certain construction is highly valuable afterwards for future DIYers, but "noise" tends to inflate the threads to 30 pages of diluted info where the actual construction hints are hard to follow.

I'm not criticising anobody or saying that I'm anything near perfect in this respect, I'm just often surprised that some threads that I really enjoyed following (both the core topic and the chit-chat) become so cumbersome to use afterwards when the important bits of information are scattered over so many pages. It might be good to have this in mind both when posting answers and starting threads, to keep them as high quality documentation.

For instance, use PM as much as possible when not addressing all the 1000 readers. (And not write "you have a PM" in the thread... Laughing ) PMs are also good for taking orders or checking out how many wants a certain PCB that is made.

When just checking for interest without knowing if there will be an order, on the other hand, people's reactions might need to be more public. Then the poll function is a good alternative! Compact and informative, without cluttering the discussion. Very underrated tool in forums, I must say. Smile

I wish there were a way for the thread author or admin to "collapse" unnecessary posts afterwards to make the threads more readable and the topic discussion more quickly accessible. In a perfect world, maybe. I love this forum! That's why I brought it all up.

That's why I asked in the first place: the noise & clutter, the "pollution".

The reservations & orders of PCB's -- often inbetween technical data -- reminds me a bit of the early Internet "me too!" days... Embarassed

I'd be nice if the data and information was separated from the reservations/orders, both for the visitor and the person offering the PCB's.
It's not much fun to wade through +30 noisy pages to look up which resistor value was needed again; even so much that it could possibly turn me away from a purchase.

Then again, just like most people here, I still like this ehm, board.

I think we already nailed it within 2 posts, and now with this additional message, it's been driven off topic.. cheesy

I want some news on this, I'm in for 4 as I've said.

I built a quad version with the single 281 pcb's and it an amazing module! 2 on one PCB would be excellent!

Superb. Count me in for 2 to 4 double boards, depending on price.

If this happens, I'd still like 4. I'd much rather use two dual boards than 4 singles-- the wiring will just be so much easier.

hello! the board sits at 95% done.. I have been wrapped up in other projects and have neglected this [again] for a while.. it needs some tweaking and the connectors straightened out a bit but yeah.. a good 2-3 hour sitdown and it should be ready for proofreading Smile I promise it will get the attention it deserves very soon. I need some boards too Cool
