The Texas LoopFest returns! Subject description: The Texas LoopFest returns! |
 |
|
https://noahpeterson.com/texas-loopfest-application
The 2021 Texas LoopFest is back! This celebration of music and technology will take place October 9-10 (maybe a few other dates might sneak in) and features all kinds of fun performers. Visit the website for more information and links to videos of past festivals: www.texasloopfest.com
If you use looping technologies are want to come perform - fill out the application (cut and past the link https://noahpeterson.com/texas-loopfest-application) and I'll try and squeeze you in!
This is a paid gig, albeit not a well paid gig. It's strictly a cut of whatever money I can beg, borrow, or raise. Sometimes it's decent, sometimes it's not...once or twice it's been almost good. What will happen is you'll have a great time, you'll see some fabulous performers, you'll make some life-long friends, and you'll definitely being stealing ideas and techniques. It happens and it's a good thing. You will be inspired, you will be glad you came. Come check it out. Applications are live now and check the website for updates.
Thank you.
------
It's Official!
The Texas Loopfest is back - Oct 9/10 are confirmed. Check the website, www.texasloopfest.com, or FB page for updates.
We will be performing at King William Park for "A Day in Southtown" in partnership with SOUTHTOWN THE ARTS DISTRICT and at Hemisfair at Yanaguana Garden on the Splash pad. All times TBA.
First confirmed artists are Pedeplei, Lizeth Ruvalcaba, James Sidlo, and Widespread Noise.
Applications are live here: https://noahpeterson.com/texas-loopfest-application
What we're looking for this year: Serious and active performing artists, new technology, ethnic music and instruments, unusual tech/instruments, song-form performers, ambient performers, regional artists, and anything else that is undeniably awesome. There is a live video requirement: Cell phone videos are acceptable. We need to see buttons being pushed, and sound being affected. ALL of the fields in the form are required.
Due to the nature of the venues we have procured this year, we are NOT looking for avant-garde, noise, or provocative performance art.
If you can't come - please donate today to help us put on an amazing event!

Just checked out the Texas Loopfest page. I watched a few of the videos from previous years. Looks like a great event. Best of luck in getting it going amidst this latest covid surge. _________________ --Howard

Thanks Howard.
That's a big concern of course. Hopefully, this will come and go quickly. We're gonna be a safe as possible. All the events are outside, and most of the acts are solo, so it's not a close contact environment.
Everyone is itching to get things going, and there's always the possibility of having to cancel. And maybe dealing with this is just going to be the future of events... who knows?
We're going to try and make realistic and safe decisions. _________________ Noah Peterson

Noah, thanks for posting this Texas Loopfest video. Very interesting and enjoyable. I think we all can learn from you on how to run an event like this. Speaking to the artists and explaining what we will hear is very helpful. It's good to get some perspective on the artists' points of view before we see/hear them play.
I like your set very much.
When this Covid shit is finally under control I'd love to go down to Texas to dig the scene in person. In the meantime, videos will have to do. _________________ --Howard

Thank you! The video is on the San Antonio Riverwalk. They started letting people kayak on it in the winter months during very select hours. Totally worth it. I've got a two seater, sit-on-top. Grabbed the wife, some hot coffee, and a go pro. A great time was had. _________________ Noah Peterson

Widespread Noise - Dreams of Bliss Subject description: New ambient album from Widespread Noise |

Widespread Noise - Dreams of Bliss available on Spotify!
Ambient music made with the Moog Matriarch.
If you ever need to chill - here's some great sounds to do it with.
https://open.spotify.com/album/4dQUBdsAtEkSAcTTfTc9It?si=GI9QDKeFTV-5Iiu5iwwsQQ
This was a live stream performance from last summer. Finally had a moment to give it a mix and release it. There is a fair amount of looping going on here, but I tried to be subtle with it.
I had been looking at the Korg MS-20 for some time and was getting ready to pull the trigger. Then I started looking at the full sized one. Right about then, the Matriarch came out. But I didn't want to spend that kind of money. So I started looking at the Grandmother... by the time it came down to it, in the middle of COVID, I got a great deal from a music retailer and just went for it.
It is a sonic joy. I still I have a great deal to learn with this instrument and look forward to spending years learning it.
This recording came about after I spent several months playing around and liked a lot of sounds and processes I was getting comfortable with. I expect there to be other recordings similar to this one. _________________ Noah Peterson

New Video Soledad from Dreams of Bliss Subject description: New Video Soledad from Dreams of Bliss |

Here's a lovely ambient track from Widespread Noise. From the release "Dreams of Bliss" this track is a called "Soledad." The video footage is the lovely, downtown San Antonio Riverwalk. This track was made solely with the Moog Matriarch
11:32 of good vibes that refreshes your soul.
I really enjoyed making this. It came from an hour long live stream. I was watching footage I shot on my kayak. So it's low level water shots on a large lake.
I used the Riverwalk footage and put a filter on it after a lot of color correction. I wanted it a little out of focus, but with some color and intensity. There are times, when you see reflections or sunlight shining and the effects really pops.

Ice Cream Sundae
This is yet another track harvested from some live stream jams. Of course there's been some editing, but it's essentially a live stereo track. All looped of course.
For this little groove-piece. Got the house beat going on the Kaossilator and recorded on the KP3+ with some effect, added some arpeggiation via the Novation Mininova, Got some bump added with the bass station II, leads provided by the Moog Matriarch, and some other founds sounds from the novation again. I like to throw in the entire kitchen sink. I'm trying to get away from that.
Not gonna lie, I went completely tasteless on the video. It's attractive women eating ice cream. This is the first post about it. I haven't put it "out, out there." At some point my wife is going to see it. While she's used to my shenanigans I also don't want her to be embarrassed. It's not porn, but is sure ain't art. It's a stunt I pulled to get views and I do want to see if it'll work. So at some point, my curiosity will overcome my shame and I'll put it on social media with a little ad campaign.
Pretty sure the art will let you know what you.re in for.

New video up for "Stereophonic Psychoses" from Widespread Noise.
Abstract ambient music set to video clips of ink plumes in water.
Tune in and turn on for sound and visuals without tempo. Refresh your mind.
This track was made on the Moog Matriarch. And recorded during a live stream concert.
