The 1st LP that I ever owned was... |

a remark written by v-n-v on this thread:

made me think which one was the first LP (pre CD era, of course) I owned.
I can't really remember but it's either "Immigration Man" by Crosby Stills Nash & Young or "Stand Up" by Jethro Tull (anyway those were the first two of a very long list) I sold them both in a matter of a few years
Anyone else want to tell us which one was his/her 1st LP/CD _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

Welja,
My first LP was Atom Heart Mother from Pink Floyd. My first more real synth oriented LP was An Electric Storm In Hell from White Noise. That does tell something about my age i guess.... _________________ Grtz Wan |

Not a LP or a CD, but my first MC was Sandra "Paintings in yellow". My first CD was... RMB "Widescreen" - Yes! - Untill 1997 I've been listening to MC's only...
(1997 is the year I bought my first CD player... talking about being poor ) |

For my 17th birthday I got one of these 3 cd changers (before that I had casette tapes hooked up to a tube-radio).
So; 3 places meant I had to have 3 cds. On a uterrly irrational whim I decided to order stuff based on a article, rember I grew up in the country side where no interesting music would sell.
Swans; "white light from the mouth of infinity"
Joy Devision; "Unkown pleasures"
Bauhaus; "the Sky's gone out".
My favourite back then was the Swans one so I decided I wanted to have all Swans albums. It seemed like a reasonable cource to start this collection with the first one. So; suddenly my tender little sould was confronted with "Filth" a masterpiece of 82 New York No-wave.

I've kind of cruelly got hold of my father's old record collection- well actually his folk LP's- quite a bit of bluegrass and The Incredible String Band- some of which is really quite fab. "Wee Tam" comes with a listening recommendation- although it's about as far away from anything electronic as is possible!!
I played Autobahn this afternoon Still sounds as fresh as it did all those years back
I should add that I was big into Dave Brubeck in those days too! "Take Five"- what a classic!( although written by Paul Desmond!) _________________ ACHTUNG!

This time last year most people in England were locked into the news of the bombings in London- but here all that had been forgotten because of that freaky tornado we had here. It's unbeleivably hot here as you know- and most people are watching the skies again (we get some pretty f**king awesome lightning around this time too )
Can anyone remember their first 7" single?? _________________ ACHTUNG!

I think it was "Popcorn" an instrumental pop tune played by a synth band way back in 1972 _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

hahaha! I had that single too!! Gershon Kingsley wrote it originally.
Anything that had a Moog on it (or was just a bit weird)- I had to have it!!! _________________ ACHTUNG!

The first LP I bought (at ten, I think) was Time by ELO. After a few more ELO albums I bought Ammonia Avenue by The Alan Parsons Project. I've been schizophrenic about the whole synth/rock thing ever since.

My first two LP's were: [I bought them at the same time]
Todd Rundgren "Something, Anything"
and
A sound FX LP entitled "Sounds of Horror and Death" ....
(OK, I was troubled years ago ..... )
PS: My first 8-Track was a Joe Walsh record .....
After this ........... lots of punk rock and electronic body music !!!!! |

My Mom had an album of 78s - The Nutcracker Suite. I've never heard any music I like better.
I love the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies. _________________ --Howard

Wow - I can't remember... I know my sister preferred cassettes - and I remember listening to her Ozzy, AC/DC tapes. I think my first vinyl was when I started breaking away from her tastes and getting into 80's synthpop - I'm betting it was either Depeche Mode or Howard Jones.
I'm sure Depeche Mode was my first 12".
I loved the Beatles when I was a lot younger - had several albums dubbed off of my uncle's vinyl on tape. But synthpop stuff was my first 'purchases' of my own (surely with my parents money though... ha.)
7"... I don't remember... they came after LP's and 12" - again - probably Depeche Mode, Howard Jones, or possibly Cabaret Voltaire. |

the first LP that i ever head (and remember clearly) was Jarres Oxygene. i was something like 3 or 4 and my uncle played that record to me - we would turn all lights off and play whit flashlight and "sing" strange spacey noises. that was so fascinating. i hope i never forget those moments
the cover is so scary!
the first that i owned was Pet Shop Boys Introspective _________________ Association of experimental electronics
