Thank you for your interest and enquiry about Opal Keyboards.

The price of the Opal Chameleon is £2000. Flight case & accessories are included. Shipping is additional and a quotes are calculated according to destination.

Our instruments are hand-built to order direct from our UK workshop. Of our two models, the Gecko is undergoing re-design but the Chameleon is currently available. It’s constructed with a hardwood frame and a choice of bound veneer tops.

The keys are weighted and velocity-sensitive with 15 settings. The playing action is light enough for fast playing without strain to the hands and fingers, and the velocity sensing is high resolution.

Control features: The control buttons include a menu of 15 tunings including rotations and reversals of the original note pattern (Melodic Table), plus a separate menu of 100 pantonal serial progressions and 42 user-definable tunings. There are 3 zones; each can be altered in enough ways for the possible combinations to number over 1 billion. However, the menu system is very user-friendly; a single data knob just below the LCD scrolls through all the options for each control button. It also has the most comprehensive MIDI hub available on any keyboard and is compatible with all synths, old & new.

I hope this is helpful; please ask anything else you would like to know.

Have you noticed that the colums are arranged in a way that is closely related to the first two long rows of an accordion's left hand? That is, two rows a major third apart with consecutive notes arrahced in a circle of fifths.

Nope, for that kind of money, I'd buy a Nord Modular G2 and my daughter a load of piano lessons (violin actually- Ursula wants to play the violin! Cool )

I could even buy her a half decent violin! Very Happy Idea

Sounds nice when I wiggle the delay knob while running arpeggios or drones from my synths. Also looks gorgeous! Metallic colour coating r00lz.

Feedback. When set to zero, you get the source mixed with a single echo. As you turn regen up you get more echoes.

The mod button activates some kind of modulation, I'm guessing it affects delay time. You're supposed to be able to tweak the speed and depth no two trimpots inside the unit - I haven't tried that out yet (currently nothing happens when I press the mod button).

There's a nice analog muffling in the echoes, like it sinks in mud.

/Stefan

Stefan, va kul grej du köpt! I like those analog delays, they're not as lovely as good old-fashioned tape echos, but they're so much more practical AND reliable!

It does need a few more buttons, and also sharks with laser beams on their heads. Or at the least an ill tempered mutant sea bass.

But seriously, serial number 001 of a futuristic advanced instrument hand crafted by the original inventor using wood patterns hand selected by the customer? thinking

Come on guys. wow!

Ay, well.. we must allow Dr. Justice to show off his brand new Axcel! Rumours say that it is being crafted, cured and polished by Cuban virgins and mutant garden pixies at the moment.

Shocked

Ahh... I'm afraid we'll have to wait a little bit more for that one... the Virgin & Pixie Union don't allow overtime...

In the mean time I shall uphold my duties, so here's some other new gear (sorry about the crappy pic, maybe I'll update it later) :

It's an Epiphone Thunderbird IV Pro. I know, not the wisest choice for several practical reasons. But it's still a cool sounding instrument; a bit like having a piano in your lap Smile Oh and I got a Zoom B2.1u pdeal for it.

Don't be so sure...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRezHceBooo

http://www.eigenlabs.com/alpha/

Not MIDI though, needs a mac to run and costs £3950!

I'm seriously dissappointed in that... Waaaay too expensive especially when factoring in the cost of a Mac too... It looks like the ultimate live controller but you have to have it tethered to a computer. That's a big flaw.

There is the smaller (and cheaper) Pico too.

They were only released today.

From the video I don't get exactly how you play it. Obviously there's a lot of buttons and the breath pipe. But for 4 grand sterling I think I'd want to look at it before I bought one.

All new instruments have a learning curve. This is no exception. It's interesting though.
