Yes, let's do it again. This we we all have less money to spend on travel and New Years celebrating. We might as well as stay home and party together. I'm going to set up a sign up sheet using a public Google calendar. I think that might be a nice way to do it. Watch this topic for details.

I'm in. I wrote a piece before Kingsport called Appalachian Stream, that I didn't have time to play down there, so I can debut that one. Busy semester, time to get back into shape for this! Thanks, Mosc.

What's that? You say me and my birthday had nothing to do with this live streaming?

How do we submit music? Do I need to acquire any software for this?

In the past this mainly has been live streaming, not using submitted pieces ... guess that'll be the idea again.

I'll set up some noodles again, to fill in any gaps when such is appreciated.

Yes, live stuff is favored, but you can also stream prerecorded stuff if you wish. I've just returned from a rather chaotic "vacation". I have lots of orders to ship out from the store. After that, I'll start setting up the event sign up sheet on Google Calendar. The default time will be one hour, but if you want less, we can work with that too.

Important, no music you don't own because we don't have a web streaming license with BMI or other music agency.

Actually, to play live on New Year's eve is fine with me. I have been working with loops/fx and my instruments lately. So, I'd be interested in doing an electro-music set for you.

Now, I have to figure out how to send to the stream.

Last year Oddcast gave us an odd experience.
I'd advise Nicecast (Mac only) for an easy ride.

When I took part last year, I used NiceCast, which worked flawlessly. The only thing to watch out for is that NiceCast's audio input meters aren't accurate - at first, I had a serious problem with clipping in my transmitted signal, even though the meters themselves didn't indicate clipping.

If possible, you'll want to do a soundcheck beforehand to determine the proper levels for your set.

I had absolutely no joy whatsoever with Oddcast Sad

But I was OK with whatever we used the first year

Whatever we use, a rehearsal/test at some point before the event would be very useful

Yes, this happened to me, I had an overload during the live stream which I didn't detect because none of the meters indicated it. Definitely requires hard limiting or careful attention in setup.

I'd like to join too if possible. I've been practising live patching with my modular lately and I like to give it a go. Smile

Where is the e-m google calendar btw? on the e-m front page? Confused

Pehr, that would be cool if you did live patch work. I also hope on maybe doing some digital live patchwork with my (very) capable modular program... although i am capable of neither organization or live internet broadcasts at that... so for me it is a big "maybe"...

yes maybe if someone could provide some more... specific... information on how to broadcast i think that would be best here... specific meaning "I have no idea where to start" specific... I'm pretty sure how to book time is pretty well explained at http://electro-music.com/radio/. And if this "oddcast" is so very unsatisfactory is there an alternative?

I see something about free software you need for the P.C... um something about "shoutcast" specifically what software do you need? If someone could spare us lots of head scratching and question-asking that would be great... a bit of advice for the "computer-smart but not-so-internet-broadcast smart-person." Sorry i still find the shoutcast website kind of confusing. Thank you.

It looks like the New Year's Eve calendar event hasn't been added yet, so there are no slots to book into yet.

I believe that Mosc will announce the opening of the calendar in this topic soon.

OK. I'll be at Howard's and we'll take 11 pm to midnight in GMT-5:00 which will be 4 to 5 am New Year's Day in the UK. Put out the call and musicians will come. But this thing needs to be announced. How does that get done around here?

Howard said he was going to set up an event sign up sheet on Google Calendar

I guess those who might be interested in playing are waiting patiently for this. I know I am Smile
