What's the worst that could happen? Blood sprayed all over the room. Deregistration? I don't know. I'm only a doctor. A drum doctor it's true, but still only a doctor. If I knew everything then it would be impossible for anyone to sue me for malpractice! Insurance premiums would plummet! I wouldn't be able to justify the outrageous fees that I charge!
Actually, speaking of fees, is your account current? I'll put your invoice in the mail tomorrow!
PS Short answer: - Not sure. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

Hi!
Here's a PCB layout for the DS8 if anyone needs it. It's for the CA3080 though. |

I just found out how you can make log pots from linear ones.
Just connect the wiper to one of the sides of the pot via a resistor like in this page http://sound.westhost.com/project01.htm .
So my 100k linear pots with a 100k resistor connected this ways becomes a 50k log pot which is perfect for the DS7!
Why have I never thought of this
It's just:
Rtot = Rres*Rpot/(Rres + Rpot),
which is a log curve when Rpot varies... |

Alright, i've gone and done it now. Finally got two out of four finished, with parts on the way for the other half! Also managed to kludge the board a bit for PCB mounted pots. I have a pdf of the layout if anyone's interested. Here's a pic of the twins: |

Generally that means not connected, so as just a guess, i would leave it out. the worst that can happen is that it wont work.

Yeah, probably just a bit longer, but would it also raise the minimum decay time? Nah, it looks like that's set by R3. Also the other cap is for the sweep control, so changing it wouldn't affect the decay.

hi....im new....i just completed the DS7 on a breadboard, and am ready for testing! seems you can pull C2 3u3/sweep and it makes no audible difference ........i think tomorrow ill try the attack decay mod.....any requests?! |

And? Did it the attack mod work out?

Hi, just a few comments and whatever...
a decoupling cap (or two) is a good idea. I had a horrible highpitched squeal going on that a 100nF cap across the power rails got rid of.
I don't know what power supply others are using but I'm using 15 volts... and that regulator gets hot. Painful hot. Heatsink is also a good idea. I made one out of a tin can; works fine.
anyone sort out the volume problem? Is it because a 5volt module just can't put out the same levels as ones using +/-15? I have the same problem with the wasp filter. Anyone point me towards a transistor amplifier?
I'll give some of the different mods a go tomorrow, see if there's anything else to add... and thanks to all involved for this module.

You could try reducing the resistor between the CA3080 output and the pot (don't go lower than ~ 2K,) or increase the 100K feedback resistor from the '3080 ouput to the - input.
I don't know about the wasp. |

Thanks for the response... I've actually tried both of these. Even raised the feedback resistor to 10M(!) with no real difference. Oh well, back to the drawing board... |

Have you tried lowering the voltage to 12 or 9v?
