What's really fascinating about this kind of thing is how these barometers compare to our own self appraisals and the impressions of others.
I'm over there with Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, and the Dali Lama, - and many of you, but I'm a registered Repub (although not for the usual reasons), a self employed property owner, and a cowboy hat wearing gun owner. (Maybe we should wonder what THEY'RE toting under those robes!). Yet I trust the test (as much as one can with this sort of thing) -largely because the Composers Political Compass places me diametrically opposite of Wagner (which was VERY reassuring).
Had me thinking about Michael Moore's take on America; Quote: | The reason the right is so aggressive in trying to squash any and all dissent is because they're in on the dirty little secret the left doesn't get: that more Americans agree with the left than the right. The right knows this because they look at the numbers, they read the reports, and they live in the real world that has become increasingly liberal in the last decade or so. And they hate it. So, in the tradition of all propagandists, they lie. They create an opposite truth: AMERICA IS CONSERVATIVE. Then they pound away with that false message so hard and so often that even their political opponents come to believe that it's true. |

Perhaps I'm a staunch liberal masquerading in conservative ideals. I'll buy that.

missed this thread whenever it was alive I guess. score : Eco -7.5, Social -5.69...more out there than ghandi or nader? The results don't seem quite accurate on where I think I stand, I would have guessed it to be more in the middle. |

That is understandable. Remember that the scale is not set up according to some US scale.. but based on a more global understanding of matters.

Now, there's a thought - maybe in the future we'll have electronic juries!?

A radical bunch indeed - we'll all be monitored by the feds from now on
Economic Left/Right: -6.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.36
- with the caveat that I tend to agree with Cyx in that that some of the questions are almost unanswerable given the phrasing and/or alternative answers...

Thought I would take it to see where I was at, being an Independent and all...
Economic Left/Right: -6.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.08
I also agree with Cyx and DrJustice on the test - many of the questions - had there been just a bit more detailed choices could have made significant changes in the scores..

Hmm.. seems like this site is brimful of rampant radicals
You guys probably remember I got this score:
Quote: | Economic Left/Right: -7.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.56
|
So.. what do we do now? Export our brand of radicalism to poor countries first.. perhaps we could take Africa and South America first? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Not a good test in my opinion. I guess all Dutch people (well, all people I know) end up in this quadrant. It's easy for us cheeseheads to be left libertarians
And total bull of course to pinpoint all kinds of famous people in the quadrants. Like they did the test |

I love it when old threads float to the top like this.
I'm proud to be an American, with real American values:
Economic Left/Right: -7.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.03
