here you go

i left the processor on there, it can be turned into a normal mixer pretty easy
the pdf shows the blocks so you can work out which bits not to populate if you dont want to use it

i beefed up the ground and rail traces too Smile

Using both VTL5C3 and VTL5C1, my 291 adaptations (second to last Luka/Funkyfarm) do not close completely (any of the three filter modes passes up to around 100Hz, on a guess, probably higher). With res up, the BPF goes up to and past audibility, with some range left on the Fc pot, so I'm looking for a way to drop the overall Fc a bit. Edit: 910pf instead of .001uF fixed the Fc problem.

Loving this, thank you to everyone. Would love to get a logic solution to have gate pulses switch between response modes to a single output.

Also note that it sounds and responds just the same with the 5C1, which are going for $2.00 each at allelectronics.com, part number VTL5C1. Same response times as the 5C3.

Edit: 5C1 are sold out.

I'm going to add this to my project list (and probably bump it to the top).

Luka: Is your rev3 pdf above the final version, with everything working correctly?

Great layout!

I don't want to be correct! Think, what to do? Cool

Edit: I don't remember if the 291-style BPF on my old Buchla 212 closed more than this build; I do remember it whoomping into the bass due to the non-linear response curve. Thanks Luka!

I also gonna build this one, after building the 292 I really like the "vactrol" sound Smile

Hi,

One question regarding Luka's layout:
Are the components in the parts view viewed from the copper side instead of the usual top view most of us use... or do I miss something?

the orientation is reverse from normal - this is from mark verbos' layout
you can orientate yourself from the IC layout

There is definitely an issue here- I note that the Buchla 291 front panel lists a frequency range from 30Hz up. My builds are not closing to 30Hz.

Edit: Got some 910pf caps as spec'd in the original and replaced the .001 I had been using. Also swapped power in resistors to the 1R as indicated on the original Verbos design. Now closes nicely.

Finished a dual 291 vcf Smile Very nice/versatile sounding filters...

A note for other builders I used the V3 layout of luka and there's a litlle kludge: pin 2 and 3 of the tl082 are mixed up so you have to cut the traces to these pins and solder wire's to have a working mixer section.

I'd like to build this filter since I've seen this topic, but some things are not clear for me (still too noob ).
You're right about the pin 2 and 3 of the 082 in the mix section... here a small redesign could be great: using the three 200K resistors as jumper above the -V track to allow the 100nF cap to be connected to ground isn't it?

but what is the purpose of the two 100K resistors near the psu connector?

they are part of the processor circuit. i added them there to avoid having them flying between CV input and processor potentiometers

see here:

Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.

sorry about the mistake
ill try fix it up asap

Thanks Luka
do you have a full schematic with this mod included? I've checked again thru the 7 pages of this topic and I've only seen the redrawn version from Scott Stites which does not show the CV processor.
That would be very helpful for me to figure out the whole wiring.

And just to be sure, R47 should be a trimmer even if it appears as a fixed resistor on Scott's version isn't it?

You can use the wiring from the schematic luka posted it's the same.

Thanks arnoid,
concerning the wiring, I was just thinking there could be some interconnections between the voltage processor and the rest of the circuit... but it appears it's not the case indeed. Sorry for that stupid request Cool

Which 082 exactly? The lower one (next to the lp/bp/hp-outs) on the left side on LucasĀ“ v3-pcb?

Thanks and kind regards
Greg

In the above pic of the original PCB, I note a pair of silver mica caps in each filter. Wonder if those are the .022s?
