That resonator looks very nice, I must admit I have always fancied a resonator. I play the resonator model on my vg-99 but it isnt the same!

I just began going thru presets and noticed that it tracks pressure very well also the electroluminescent underglow makes it visible in every light condition (very handy) not to say anything about its cool-factor!
Still have to figure out how to move my feet but the idea of controlling pitch bend and/or modulation with no hands is very alluring Wink
I checked out the ram usage while the editor is running (more than 800Mb) Shocked

I think it depends if you are going to use it sitting down or standing up, plus read this from the manual:

Quote:
global gain - amplifies all incoming data from each key. Adjust this first before adjusting other settings. This scales all of the sensor data from the SoftStep keys and can make the SoftStep more or less responsive to pressure. If you are 2 meters tall and 110 KG you would need less global gain than if you weighed half that.

my first impression is that it is better to use shoes of some sort but I still have to figure out many things about it.

Inspired by Andy's PRS buy, the annoying Squier I've attached my GK-3 to, and the fact that they had a nice affordable PRS hanging in the local music shop, I got this SE Soapbar today and moved the GK-3 to it. So far it feels like a success.

I don't seem to be able to attach the picture here, maybe something with the new server setup?

/Stefan

Edit: attaching picture..

Snap, I got a SE singlecut a while ago to do the same thing to, those SEs are pretty good for the price I think.

Stefan, I had trouble, too, but I was able to upload a file no larger than 600x600. I don't think this is what's intended. I've been PM'ing with Howard about it, so I think he's going to look into it. I think what he wants is for a 600x600 thumbnail to appear after you've uploaded an image, not to put a 600x600 restriction on the upload itself.

Cheers Damien, thanks for the info. I guess it will get sorted in due time.

@Andy: sounds promising!

Stefan or Damien: Please try to attach a pic larger than 600 X 600 here. I can't test so good because admins seem to be able to do virtually anything.

thanks

OK, I just tried editing my original post, then I tried posting the picture in a new post, then I tried a new post with a downsized version (500 px width) and finally I tried downloading the picture from the top post on page 50 of this thread, and attached that to a new post. No luck.

Edit: rephrased the part about the downloaded image

Thanks for the feedback. I found the problem. It should work now on any size pics. See: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-48016.html

Sorry, still no luck, just tried all three pics again.

Each time I've waited a minute or more, none of the files are above 350 kB, which I assume should upload quicker than that.

/Stefan

I tried making a new thread with a pic in Schmooze with the same effect (endlessly loading after I click submit). Since you had posted a png file, I tried converting the image to png and attached that, with no luck. That file is approx 110 kB.

Everything is fine here now, the last stumbling block was probably local to me. Thanks for fixing and making things better! Very Happy

Now that I finally got my budget under control I put aside some cash (USD $80) for a Gyration Air Mouse Elite, which is sitting in it's cradle atop my Mac mini right now. There it rests, the key to unlocking the power of wireless motion control using ChucK.

So far I have coded two programs that use it's (theta, phi) gyro chip, both in ChucK. The first is ChucKchat, a chat-enabled multi-user web-based music jam program (see the topic in Schmooze that I will post after this message for details). The second is a Star Trek holodeck phaser practice program. As you play this game you hear a sine wave oscillator change pitch to indicate how close you are to the target. Press a button to score a hit and generate another target - fun!

Putting all the motion control pieces together (software, hardware, budget, time, motivation, etc.) fulfills a 20 year long dream of mine. I always wanted to create some type of physically interactive system, much like today's Wii game, that I could personally customize for my own enjoyment and exercise routine. The dream is reality today, and I'm having a blast with this new toy!

Les

That's cool Les! And not only for musical applications; you can also go into Jedi training now, like the blindfolded Luke trying to hit the hovering robotic sphere. May the G-force be with you Very Happy

Hehe, thanks guys! Yeah, actually Dr. Justice, what you say is quite possible with this device. Instead of a phaser that shoots out, one could hold it like a light saber and have the program calculate the position of the light rod part of it. Then the hovering sphere and that classic light saber sound could also be done in ChucK.

At the moment, however ChucK is a little bit embarrassed. You see, his mouse HID routine only reads the X and Y values and the first three buttons. That means that the accelerometer and the remaining three buttons are unavailable to ChucK. That's a shame, because the combination of the gyro and the accelerometer allow one to do limited forms of tracking, i.e. knowing not just the angle or the orientation or the g-force, but actually knowing the full (x, y, z) position and (pitch, roll, yaw) angular orientation.

Well not roll, the Gyration mouse uses only a two-axis gyro, curse them for that shortsightedness, but I guess cost is critical here. And I guess it's supposed to be a floating mouse, not a tracking device, but by now with the existence of inexpensive gyros and accelerometers in all three axes each, it's almost irresponsible for such devices to fall short in this way.

Ah well, I'm not complaining because I can do a heck of a lot with just the two axes of gyro. Luke, use the mouse!

Les
