more 40106/4051/4040 action from the proven Mike Collins design.

for this one in particular i used Seamoss' implementation plus a few tweaks.

seq 1 is really just a demo of what it can do... at least in my hands

seq 2 is a bit more interesting with the pattern forming a cloud of pitches really close to each other resembling a bit what Ligeti used to do with hyperharmony

crude samples, no reverb or editing

Hello again! I just thought I'd let everyone in the lunetta neck of the woods know that I posted two new tracks on my myspace page (10-2-09 and 9-12-09); its all lunetta except for some filtering here and there (MFOS WSG filter...), and obviously some reverb. I just got my first 4077 ring mod module going, and its been nice to have some new sounds to play with (see track 10-2-09 one)!

Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it! I've found it hard to achieve a good balance between time spent working on the synth and time spent actually playing it (usually a little of both I guess...). Overall, its usually just hard to really just sit down and get a complete track done; I always have a handful of modules being used to test new concepts, so it seems like I rarely use it to it's full potential. Luckily, these two tracks really utilize just about everything I have gotten up and running so far.

mosc, a purist would have a good argument against me; as I mentioned, I used some filtering (so hard for me to not use some most of the time...) and technically I'm also using a triangle/sine LFO that is op-amp based. Aside from the filter though (and the copious amounts of reverb), everything is lunetta based. I think one of my main focuses while building up a new lunetta patch is layering a lot of oscillators (I usually have around six going, all doing different things). I almost always have two or three tuned to the same pitch or off by a common interval (octave...), I've found that I really enjoy the wave interactions that go on when a couple oscillators are all humming together. I think another thing that makes some of my stuff a little different is that I tend to do a lot of knob twiddling and manual switching; I come from a guitar and piano background, so I like to be active with my music. I don't have any shift registers going yet, so I don't have a lot of the "melody generator" stuff going as well (I'm totally into it though... I just need more time than I have to mess with it!).

I'll be posting more soon hopefully! Thanks again to everyone for the feedback!

Fortunately, it's nonsense to link Lunetta and purist. Laughing

new lunetta! well not completely new. probably a week old now... but !!!

its built into a small cash box which is a great case to use, the case is wired to ground. for the vca+env, input and D/A module i added 1/8" and 1/4" outputs for easy interfacing to other equipment. the paint and finish on the case is a faux hammered metal supposed finish. instead it just looks like a meltymess, which i love.
there is a switch to share the clock from the far right shift register with the other shift registers so that i can output random bits to a melody generator or somesuch and create some generative sequences.

6x oscs with overlapping freq ranges from quite low to i think around 2mhz or so.
2x 4-bit shift register
2x 4-bit binary counter
1x 64-bit shift registers
1x VCA+ENV combo
1x Input module
1x 4-Bit D/A

this thing is great and works obviously quite well with my first lunetta.

I offered these to Inventor for the lunetta show.

Schrang:
Simple patch. Bass beep to and gate for gating. Noise burst is a pair of asynchronous clocks going into the clock and data inputs of a shift register then into an and gate for gating. 3 shift registers with asynchronous data clocks are used for psuedo random bit sequences to drive the melody generator, which is then going into the VCA+ENV combo.

technoz:
uhm this was kinda a complex patch,i dont really remember. the drum machine is an er-1, which has some of its voices going into the input module on the lunetta, which is driving both binary counters tied sequentialy, which is used to clock a shift register, which gives a psuedo random signal, feeding i think the melody gen. im also using the 64 bit shift register as a glitcher type thing, which repeats randomly some of the sounds from the er-1 at a pretty low bitrate. i think there might have been some and gates used as well for ringmods. i need more cables.

Hi folks, here's something I created with my Lunetta, a NAND synth and 3xDS8.
Editing in Audacity.(Try Audacity's pitch shift on your Lunetta recordings, it reveals awesome stuff.)

Enjoy!

Seriously enjoyable track droffset, I like it even editted Wink. Actually, I myself have been prone to using copious amounts of effects.

But it's good for those stumbling upon this forum to also hear lunetta's in their grand nakedness to familiarize themselves with their character and possibilities before people start building them to find they liked the processing or the DS8 especially.

That - were friggin' wild, droffset! In all of the Lunetta postings here, I've never heard a recording (Audacitied or not), like THAT! Surprised Smile

Your original post has been an inspiration! I've been an effects nut, for years and years. Finally - I have a fair pile of multi-fx units.

In a future recording though, I'm going to see if it's possible for me to record whatever is happening, at the same time:

- 1 recorder, with all effects / etc.
- another recorder, PRE-effects, for everything

When I get that done, I'll post the pair of recordings in a single message. That'll help clue others in, as to what things are like. Smile

- Mr. Multiple Delays into 10-20 second stereo reverb fan, I be ...

RF, thanks man!

Electri-Fire... Diss to your FACE! Laughing Just kidding.
No diss intended, I'm just starting to try to organize stuff into a slightly more refined presentation. But hey if you like raw sound my Soundcloud has plenty of it, check it out. Smile

This one used cutting, volume automation, some pitch shifting, and a nifty plate reverb plugin. Three separate recording sessions were all cut and layered together then exported down to a single file, then the reverb applied to that and re-exported. My poor eeePC ran out of HD space a couple of times in the process.

Rykhaard - Thanks! Are you going to use stereo? It might work to record the left ear wet and the right ear dry.

a short clip. I am completely stoked and amazed at the music that this synth is capable of making! after this got somewhat set up, I increased 1 oscillator in speed driving the 4017 and then slowed it back down again.
