I just got back from the post office. A kind lady named "Joulee" helped me to ship 112 packages total over the course of 1 hour.

Just like banks etc nowadays can have their many letters to customers printed out by some postal service at different locations and then just shipped locally, the postal service should also have a PCB manufacturing service closer to the DIYers to avoid the need of this packaging & shipping labour. Cool

Laughing , must say though that almost two packages / minute is not bad at all for a post office.

Thanks again Thomas! I expect your hard work will soon be much appreciated all round the world!

I'm planning on doing a straight forwad 7" x 4.25 Buchla repro in FPD. I'll be glad post my design, and happy to see any others!

Here is the final document packet for this project. If you find any need for correction or anything I missed, please let me know so I can add it.

Very Happy

Of course, the real benefit here will be to build yours, share what you did, and we can all applaud and celebrate the collective level of LPG greatness!

Thomas

Boards have arrived, thank you Thomas.

I haven't seen boards tinned with this white paint looking stuff. I will have to cross off lead-free eco PCB once I hit it with some leaded solder. Laughing

Yeah, the whitish film looks to be a protector coating of sorts for the traditionally "easy to tarnish" lead-free PCBs. If you scratch it with a finger nail you can see silver underneath. I know solder would not flow like it has on my PCB if there was a connectivity issue, so all will be fine.

The lead-free factor should help with Customs in the EU and elsewhere. BTW, I also still use leaded solder.

PS. All PCBs were sent as "Commercial Samples" with zero value. If it comes up just let them know you receive these PCBs in exchange for the annual membership fee you paid when you signed up with my small start up business.

Received today, thanks!

C6, a 1.0uF poly cap at the audio input, in the audio path...is that to provide some amount of roll-off, and if so, how much?

Mike,

There is no audible roll-off that I can hear and you should find that the same. I think it has to do with filtering DC from the audio maybe. It was in the schematics I based the design off of. Hope this helps! You could always leave it out and replace it with a jumper to try how that sounds (but that might be tinkering a bit too much).

I've decided I would like to mount two of the pcbs behind one 2u panel, so I have two lowpass gates functioning in the 2u space. For all intents and purposes this will be the same as two individual lpg's, but I would like to normal the output from the left one into the input of the right one, to be broken if a cable is inserted into the right input.

Can anyone explain how to do this? (sorry, I know its an obvious one for most of you, for me this is my first build).

I intend to follow Thomas' design for the 1u version, so two cv ins (one with attenuation/knob), one input one output 4 jacks total (x2, one set for each lpg). Perhaps I would also be able to normal the attenuated set of cv inputs? - so that the lpg on the right side takes cv from the left side until a plug is added to its cv input to break the normal? This would be great when using them in series, one votage could sweep both easily, etc.

Finally, there is a way to combine the power connections into one, correct? I think I've seen it on other builds, long pieces of metal that extend down into the next power connector?

Thanks in advance, sorry on the noob diy questions. I haven't gotten the pcb's but I suspect very soon they will be here.... Very Happy

There are switched jacks which have 3 contacts: signal, ground and switch.

For your individual "mode" wire the signal and ground. To figure out the contacts: Insert a patch cord while measuring (DMM) which contact has contact with the tip of the other end of the plug (signal) and which one has contact with the body the plug (gnd). The remainder is the switch contact. This one is physically in touch with the signal unless a cord is inserted.

To normalize 2 LPGs you can solder one output to the switched input of the other one.

I have 10 PCB's left with extras aside in the event of lost shipments. So I can process orders for 10 more boards if anyone is interested. First post, first served...

I would imagine these would take a couple of weeks to get to the UK? If anyone else in the UK/Europe has already received theirs, please let me know Smile
