The switch action may be best reported by Matthias Fonik. He has built this with 3PDT and I have only used Rotary. But, It would appear to be like the original:

Up - Filter
Middle - Both
Down - Amplifier (Gate)

Can someone verify this who has built Matthias' board layout?

missed that somehow.

anyways, thomas is right, if you think of the switches toggle position: switch up would connect S5 to S6 (lowpass), switch down would connect S1 to S2 and S3 to S4 (gate). middle position means no connection (both mode).

Thanks for the orders folks. PCB's have been ordered and should be to my door within 12 business days.

I have to say, this project has kept me very busy. It is a crazy thing offering a design and with so much interest in this project my biggest fear is something coming up with the circuit and being a disappointment to the synth_diy community. Hitting "send" on the final board design was harder to do that expected. I can only hope the board will meet what I know are your high expectations. Before I placed the order I fired up my builds of the prototypes just to make sure one last time that the project does work and will do what it is supposed to. Many here have helped with the design and testing and for this I thank you! Specifically:

23 is Good (Pete Aleman) - Beta Testing
Fonik (Matthias Herrmann) - Beta Testing, Circuit Resource, PCB Advice
Seranadi - Design Influence
ChrisSugar - Design Influence

And of course the ever so kind Don Buchla for his more than gracious support of the project to begin with!

I hope to have boards in my hands and on the way to you all before the default shipping window for Express PCB. Until then, stay patient, order your parts and get ready... cause I know many, like myself, will be looking forward to getting these going in our system. Respectfully,

Thomas

Really though I will be adding bypass caps to the IC's to make sure they work as planned (ie. transparent in sound but solid in design practice)

I know this thread is so busy and you've been busy with getting the board ready to send to production, but are there spots on the board for these bypass caps? Are they SMDs? If you could either update the component layout or post something with what value cap and where to put them that would be great.

Thanks!

I edited my previous post about bypass caps. I did not end up adding them. Layout documents are still the same for rev 3 boards which is the final version. Thanks

Thanks again for all the effort. You've done such a great job at keeping us up to date! I'm sure these are going to be great!

Sorry if I missed this info somewhere, but are the pads at .100" spacing for the mode & deep switch connectors so we could use a 6 & 2 pin header connector in these spots?

Thanks.

The Mode Switch connections should be fine with a .1 header. The deep switch is an odd measurement. The audio ins, CV ins, and output along the bottom edge of the board will work with a .1 connector if you remove "every other" pin from it.

GENERAL REMINDER FOLKS:

The PCB's were ordered to be produced on Monday October 20th. The process takes 10 business days and then there will be 2 days shipping to me. I will be shipping the PCB's within 1 week or receipt from the board house. All this means that the PCB's will likely ship between November 5th and 12th. Shipping is via First Class Mail or Air Mail for International shipments. I would assume from past shipping experiences that West Coast USA folks could get shipments in a matter of days with International shipments taking up to 14 days or so. Thanks for your support of this project... Holiday building awaits us all. After all, there is nothing better for a Synth Geek than a Lopass Gate in our stockings!

this is probably really obvious but

I want to build the 1u version. I see that there is one pot on the Mouser list for Resonance, and one pot for Offset. Will I still need to order one 100k linear pot for the one Control spot on the 1u panel (third down from the top)?

thanks

Good question,

The parts list is based on what it takes to make the PCB work, not on the specific panel design. The panels are just my suggestions for layout and any pots for attentuation of audio or CV inputs will need to be added to the parts list. Thanks for asking,

Thomas

offset is more useful than control imo
control is just an attenuator pot for the cv
whereas offset is important for the filter and gate cutoff/sensitivity

you can always attenuate your cv in an external dc mixer
buchla didnt have the cv attenuation on their designs

Speaking of offset, any tips/suggestions on how to calibrate the offset range trimmer?

Adjust offset to "taste". Just allows you to set the offset swing of the pot to a lower or higher range.

Ah, where did you get that single pin/post? Can you buy those or is that just removed from a .1 header? In general I have wanted single posts like this before.

In the US you can take MTA.100 connectors for this, but those are not prewired.
The ones from germany are prewired.
Reichelt has horrible shipping costs and 150€ threshold, but Musikding would be a choice for Foreigners.
