That soundlab is awe-inspiring, Lars. Really nice.

Here's my first ever module, a stripboarded MFOS noise cornucopia... Fibreboard panel, biro lettering a-go-go!

I got mine from B&Q, a hardware store, in a 2x1 metre sheet for about 3 pounds.

It cuts messily with a saw, but with a metal ruler, a stanley knife and some patience you can cut it very cleanly. Drills well too, although it needs some filing after.

Another day, another one built Smile MFOS VC LFO this time.

Not sure why I haven't posted anything earlier. I have a couple more things that I should finish this year.

oops, the last part of my description of my modular got cut off. The crowded 2u on the bottom contains a Moog LPF, dual Moog ADS and VCA (essentually the arse-end of a minimoog) and a MFOS SV VCF....that 2u is the most packed of all my modules! On top of the modular is a rack-mounted SR&D Rockman IIb....compressor, EQ,analog chorus, reverb and distortion unit. Makes your cheap strat sound just like late 1970's Boston...or 1980's ZZ Top. Not sure why I keep it there.

Love the re-packaged keyboard. The percussion unit and modular are impressive, too.

Richard,

yeah the M-Audio 88e isn't a bad keyboard, but it is very light with a thin plastic case. Any real piano player is going to end up with it on the ground after a couple of bars. The wood case gives it some mass so I can dig into the keys a little more.

Incidently this was another "not working and something is rattling around inside" ebay find for cheap. Plugging in a proper wallwart, everything was fine out of the gate. The "rattle" ended up being a quarter that must have fallen in between the keys! 90%+ of my non-working ebay buys are 100% working and the others are 15-30 minute fixes of simple things like jacks and switches.

I did splurge and spent money on a frontpanel designer panel, though. I don't have a good way to machine nice looking square holes for the pitch bend and mod wheels or the slot for the volume slider.

More Gear Porn! I want more Gear Porn! Show us your jacks, your switches, your pots and dials. Amaze us with circuitry all wired neatly. Give us this day our daily modular, and forgive us our power consumption. OK, heh, I'll stop. Rolling Eyes

Great job neandrewthal - looking good.
I wasn't aware that those panels were available yet - I've been waiting on them.

I'm off to spend some $$ @ bridechamber Smile

Will do. Right now it's got 9 voices (2x MPS, Clangora, UD-1, Cynare, 808 BD, 808 SD, 808 CP, 808 CB) and should have over 30 when done. The Midibox-based midi-to-trigger distribution bus is already in place. Need to finish up the rest of the 808 voices, since I already have panel space ready for them.

Thundarr - i like the fiber board panels, have you started your MFoS ball point pen collection, i'm at 14 right now Smile Smile.

What kind of system are you building up, is it abstract (noise, randomness) or a melodic (tuned vco's & cv convertor)

3 pens so far... I use them to do the labelling too Razz Nearly have the MFOS VCO and VCA done now, need to order some more boards from Ray next month Razz

I'm aiming to do slow, sweeping drone stuff, along with slow, heavy doom bass... I'll need a keyboard eventually but it's not a priority Smile
