So... a brand new (we 'll see about that...) synth...
In the next photos of gear junkies i hope i can see big banners boasting....
a brand new G2 Windows VISTA driver. I will not mention anything about the word that starts with upd.. and concludes with ...ate!

actually, on the page you linked to there was a line which mentioned that Clavia said the unit is just the prototype. |

Not very exciting by that description. Hopefully it's a little more than a Lead with an 1980's Akai Sampler built in... _________________ Steve |

Let's hope that's just the prototype, and the finished product will have endless ones.

Dasz, in fact there are 2 of those knobs, look for the other in the left side, just below the arrows and the 2 digit led. Probably it's a data wheel similar to the G2 one.
My point of view is that the knobs will remain as they are, in order to lower the price of the unit. I don't see enough space between the knobs (and the labels) to make them like the G2's, it would require a bigger surface.
If the final product only has 2 outputs like this one that could mean that Clavia is trying to get competitive as they did with the NL2X. The NL3 is too expensive from my point of view. I think that the USB connection will be used to transfer waveforms to and from the computer.
I hope that it has an SPDIF output... it's about time. _________________ Cheers,

Yeah the synth is borderline interesting. Multilayered and multizoned wavetables sounds like it could be cool, but that interface is going to have to be damn good to make it work.
Unless it sounds completely amazing right out of the box without any tricks, I'm not sure if many people would be interested in this kind of synth... |

Reality check!
I have considered the product info we have so far. It doesn´t look like much, but IMO done right this just might be a mindblowing little synth. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Of course it will be intuitive and flexible and a joy to use. Just need more info.

I wonder if there will be some sort of special wave-stretching technology that will make the user's waves sound more "natural" across the keyboard, a la Roland's VP-9000.
There has to be more to this synth than meets the eye (or ear). It just doesn't seem "special" enough to me. |

yummy! granular offset/duration modulation with good lfo's and envs means good results...
DayGlo_DZ created in the last 17 minutes, what a patch it is ...

Would you be able to post a link or two to some online music that makes use of a granular engine? I'm curious. _________________ --Howard

They have done away with one of the most intuitive and engaging interfaces on a synth ever (the Nord Lead 3) and replaced with an interface that doesn't stand out in the crowded market (not good!). Because they discontinued the Nord Lead 3, I was hoping for something that was more of a replacement or an upgrade to that synth.
The led rings make a huge difference in the experience of working with a synth because everything is right in front of you and perfectly visable. It makes it more like working with a software synth - but better because you can touch and feel it.
I really hope there is a way they can add the new features in this synth to the G2. That's something I would actually be very interesed in and willing to pay for. |

Hmmm, so real pics of the solaris, and real versions of the fore-mentioned arturia, BLOFELD, and STROMBERG!
Clavia spent 2 years on the wave, it better be good, since waldorf just came back into existence.
Maybe now we might see a wavetable module for the G2... I would personally like that very much. |

Those pics have given me gear lust again and I already have more than enough that i am still learning to use properly (G2 obviously).
Damn the art of photography, it be the work of the devil.

I think secretly.. yes I am hoping the Wave would have some kind of granular approach But with Clavia's recent focus on 'stage' instruments I don't feel so positive about them these days. Happy to be proven wrong. _________________ Steve |

It looks like pretty standard synth architecture.
MSRP? That looks like a $1,000+ synth to me.
Any word on production dates?
Blofeld is right around the corner; I wonder if the Wave will be out in time. |

I _do not_ like the fact that it looks exactly like their 12 year old original Nord Lead. It looks old and uninspired.
I'm sure it sounds somewhat exciting but you could never tell by looking at it. |
