Guess I better make some noise Laughing

Schematics should wait on proof of proto (they haven't been released yet).

Luka got me fired up about my 291 clone, which spends most of its time in the "finished but no panel" section of my mess. Here's the Appendage doing it's thang with FM through the 291.

Thanks Aetherpulse. Very Happy

I finally did a video demonstrating the ribbon-gated mode of S&H. It takes an external clock (I use an LFO in the first part and a VCO in the second part of the video for the clock); samples are only taken when the input clock signal is high and there is pressure on the ribbon.

Cheerios,
Scott

Hi guys - it's awesome to see this thread. Especially since it was kicked-off by a discussion about my Stribe project. Anyways, I've just released a new kit through curious inventor that lets you build a single strip Stribe with 2 columns of LEDs. It's pretty simple but I think it will come in handy to a lot of the folks on this thread. Check it out:

http://curiousinventor.com/blog/43

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

welcome Phineus! It's great to see you here!

The Stribe is one amazing instrument - truly inspiring indeed! I love watching/listening to videos of people playing it. I'd heard of SoftPot before, but always thought they were inaccessible to mere mortals - the Stribe turned me onto the fact that one could get them.

Those LEDs would be great for putting on an Appendage. Even for voltage mode, two pressure control, they'd give an indication of where the voltage would be - it would be interesting to see them track two pressure point spreads!

Luka: A dual 291 (like the original) would be pretty cool, indeed. How's the project going?

Cheers,
Scott

They can be wired for 2-touch, but it also possible to get a similar effect using timing by polling the strip very quickly and comparing the two values (it flips back and forth between the two touches)

Here's a video of Initial controlling pitch and slide and bend controlling filter. I'm using my Triple Wilson SVVCF. I had to cut the highs drastically to keep YouTube from crinkling all over the top, but you'll get the idea.

BTW, it starts of very quietly - it gets louder...

hey scott, still: FAB Videos!

But ould you be a doll and leave the text on a little longer in them? It disappears a fair bit before I can read them, usually, so I have to pause the video to read up on what's going on, hehe.

Well, actually I was counting on people hitting pause - I was trying to time the print about what was happening when to when it happened, and if things scrolled by too slowly, it wouldn't be so apparent.

I'll give slower text a try, though - sounds like a PITA for you (and likely others).

It's too bad I have a face fit for radio and a voice fit for print.....

Cheerios,
Scott

Lookit what Bill put together already!!

Prototypers: we ran into a snag on one part, so the shipment to you got delayed. Bill should have hold of it shortly, then he'll send the kits out so you can go through the same experience.

Somehow it doesn't look nearly as bushy as my breadboard. Laughing

Still looks bloody complicated to me.
It is just a voltage divider with some other shit right?
I mean, I'm not gonna get sent Guantanamo Bay or something am I? Laughing

Don't make me upload a picture of the breadboard....

It might wind up in a document like this:

http://courses.ece.uiuc.edu/ece445/projects/Fall2007/project1_presentation.ppt

For those of you with Microsoft Power Point, I'm referring to Slide 17. I'm still waiting for my royalty check from ECE Illinois.

Edit: The Appendage breadboard makes that one look pretty tame. They should have waited....

I awoke this morning thinking about a patch for this Appendage controller:

- some VCOs (3 or 4) being fed from
- Ken Stone's CV Cluster (various "taps") which is fed from
- Appendage main CV and
- the Appendage "Slide distance" (or whatever it's called) going to CV Cluster's "Span" CV in.

...all of this to make slide-able "chords"

Well, it sounded good to me.

Just in case you don't have a Clavioline, why not use an Appendage Controller and a few VCOs.

Regards,

Tim

Hey Machine

That sounds like a great patch to me! I've been playing with one that has three VCOs - all three are patched to the mixed output, one is synced to another, and that one is controlled also by the bend output, so once one slides up from the initial point of contact, it does that sync thing....

Never noticed - you're from KS?

Damn that's a big board, but my enthusiasm outweighs my fear of the project size. It'll look great next to my half finished Klee. Very Happy

Can't wait till the boards are up for sale.

Nice composition Scott and good example of using INIT voltage for sustain and BEND for filter destination. I love the promotion for the documentation !!! NICE Cool The old horror movie FX are great !

I just noticed a little upwards pointing widget in the loleft corner of the youtube player and when I move my mouse pointer over it I get options for annotations and captions that are not present in this video but apparently could have been. I've no idea how to, but these thingies cannnot possibly be meant otherwise than to avoid people having to pause. Pausing is unacceptable, just imagine it to be the person in front of you.
